i just called to say i love you!

Long time, no see? October has been such a busy month already, i started uni, aged a year, went to Paris and went back to Stylist. And along the way i bought a few bits and i thought i would share. I won't go into the birthday shenanigans just yet, as i'm still recovering from a night of 80's dancing with my best friends, i'll save that (embarrassment) for another ramble!

As i mentioned in one of my earlier posts, Topshop held a student night in some of their larger stores to which my friend Sarah and i attended the Oxford St branch. We also did a bit of shopping here and there and everywhere too, naturally. One of the first stops was Selfridges where they are currently holding The Shoe Galleries, which was fabulous! They have completely transformed their shoe department into an actual gallery which some of the most fiercest shoes on display to completely lust over. Decked out with large human-sized shoes, with the shoe shop designed like no other, you are also invited to try out their very own photo booth, simply selecting a pair of shoes to go pose with and tell your very own shoe story. Wait out side and bam, your polaroid is there to collect! I really recommend going, just for the giggles, lusting and free photo of course!

the lovely Sarah - double trouble

After trying on a few sneaky pairs of Chanel pumps, we then head over to the more, lets say the more affordable shoes, where i came across these... the brogue. Which i find rather manly, because you know, they are actually designed for men, but for me? It took some strong persuading from Sarah, but i'm so glad. I think they are the comfiest shoes i have ever purchased, and perfect for the winter, a real twist on flats.

We then popped over to H&M, where i had previously spotted this dress online and knew i had to buy. It's very sheer, floral and pretty, perfect with layers, with an added edge of a cuff detail.

If you own an iPhone, be sure to download the H&M app, if you shake it, a 20% voucher will appear to be used in store. Then if you sneaky, like me, delete the app, then re-download and wham! another voucher.

Finally we popped over to Topshop, which was PACKED. Words cannot describe the mad-panic of girls squabbling and rushing around for their size. Being the somewhat freakily obsessed TS fans that we are, we had already sussed out what we were looking to buy, and er thats when things got a little bit expensive.

Let me introduce you to my all-time favourite piece of clothing this winter.

This coat is freeking amazing, it flares, it has fur, its navy, its mine! At the awful price of £95.00. Thank the lord for 20% off (and student loan). The fit is so perfect and very well tailored for a high street coat. I love it.

Then after rummaging around the dresses, i finally came across my dusty pink shift dress. I adore the colour and fit, and i'm so glad i managed to get my hands of it!

After giving my debit card a good burn, we then went to have a play with the new A/W make up, well it would be rude not too.

Sarah modeling the lipstain that i attacked her with, tres fierce.

One last thing, i just had to show you this fur collar/scarf thing i bought from H&M. Worn with my Topshop trench, it really transforms my trench into a whole other coat, as well as making me feel like Doris Day in a Touch of Mink, ooh the glamour.

Posts to follow: Paris adventures, Birthday Celebrations, Moar Make-Up.

Just a quick note to say: Paris was lovely, we diddn't get blown up, Sephora was raided, and it diddn't break up our 7 year relationship, he just takes longer than me to get ready and apparently i always need to pee. Insightful ;). && thank you for the birthday wishes.

What have i missed? you!

look at the stars, look how they shine for you.

This month was one long budgeting process, considering the previous month i was interning at Stylist and earning no dollar. However, the money faeries (student loan to you and i descends upon one's self next Friday, and there will be no holding me back.

I have adored these shift dresses from afar for too long - i mean who doesn't love a shift dress? Topshop came out with these a few months back and to be honest i thought they were a little 'meh' - boring. Until that is until i read Laura's blog and saw her wearing one, that moment i knew i had to buy one, they are such perfect day dresses. With a sharp blazer, thick tights and chunky knitted scarf or a great tan and sandals for the summer - perfect. Although some times i think i dress too smart? I never really dress down, but is that a bad thing? I don't know and don't care, i love classic styles.

Laura really brings this dress to life, something i would have just left looking a tad bland on the hanger she makes look damn right good, with the waist belt in tow.

The Tuck Shift dress is from Topshop, it retails at £45.00 and comes in mink, navy and sea green. An all  round waldrobe staple, i'm tempted to buy all three! The navy: so classic, the sea green: a colour i don't usually wear and the mink: a lovely pastel nude. What do you think?

And if you haven't already, you must check out Laura's blog Wearing It Today, she has the most amazing style, pairing the most gorgeous high-end pieces with a good high-street find in-between. Did i mention she was fashion editor for Red magazine? Get your skates on over there.

Kate Moss and Topshop break up.

Okay, so not quite as dramatic. But it has been announced today that Moss is ending her 'design partnership' with Topshop. Why, may you ask? Well after three years, the supermodel has decided she has other commitments and it is reported that she has at least made £3m from the ranges. Many questions spring to mind, did she even really put that much work and effort in to her collections? I mean most of the time she ripped designs from her own pieces - which were already high-end designer creations. Is it really that hard to whip out another collection when you can easily make another million? I don't know, maybe Kate has something more exciting in the pipeline, and not another perfume we hope. On the other hand, Mr Phillip Green (my all time hero) does he have a black up plan? There are thousands of head hungry fans, both celeb and designers that would probably kill for shot at designing for Topshop, we've already had Mr Kane and Mark Fast, but they were shadowed under the lime light of Kate. It begs the question of what will Topshop whip out of the bag next? With a successful make-up range already accomplished this year, who will they next get on board to front the TS brand? Alexa, Daisy? Nah, we need something fresh.

What are your thoughts on this? I personally don't really care that much for Kate's style so i'm a tad biased, so i'm not that fussed to see her over-priced, non-selling clothes. Maybe it was good for her to get out early, before it just got too same-y? But something must be brewing at the Topshop towers, one question, who next?

Kates A/W collection will stilll feature in October, but that will be her last collection, lets hope she's worked bloody hard, and it looks amazing..

The Lust List - 28th June 2010

I haven't compiled a Lust List for quite a while, simply because i haven't lusted over anything, oh how depressing of me! Autumn/Winter is far more exciting i think, or maybe i'm just bitter that i didn't have the excuse of a holiday this year to bulk buy those floral, frilly, coral, chiffon, floaty summer clothes, boo!

But never the less, there a quite a few in-between season pieces floating about in Topshop, hence why the list is basically compiled of Topshop..

This khaki green sequin top looks absolutely fabulous in real life, but online it just looks crap. It would look super fierce with a tan (i feel like i always say this?) and some black skinnies, neither of which i am or own. So although i'm lusting from afar, this can stay looking pretty instore, and with that price tag, my purse can sigh a breath of relief.

Back to basics, with all the printed and tailored skirts and shorts i own, i need some thing to balance it out. And nothing beats the feeling of a brand new, fresh white teeshirt. With the rolled up sleeves and cute pocket are simple yet good added details.

I adore this skirt. Is it because it sparkles? It is because it looks worn out? I don't know, i just want it.
I'd buy it for £45, even with student discount, thats a pricey skirt. Although a similar skirt is selling All Saints for £130, mmh.

I'm buying these without a doubt, i just love the powdery, dusky pink and they are tailored. Effortless.

I think this is one of those dresses that looks naff on the hanger, so you bypass it. Then two weeks later, you see some one actually wearing it, and you kick yourself because it actually looks amazing on. This dress is that dress. Yet - i will not be trying it on, just because i know i will buy it. hah.

I know people find Topshop rather pricey, i suppose i look slightly past that because i have student discount (my love for NUS will never die) but just looking at these items, i really think they have notched up the prices. Even still, i think i will still go on to purchase, would you?

'They were supposed to say I'm sorry, I love you' not 'You're dead, let's disco!'

I love adore Topshop, Rihanna not so much.
Shoot me, i'm just not a fan.

But these shorts on the other hand..

Slightly different size spots, but clearly the same shorts? All the same, these are just too cute. These might be making their way through the post to me pretty soon.
